Despite challenging weather conditions, Mrs. Sage's 3rd-grade class traveled to Hall Creek to learn basic survival skills from members of Ferry County Search and Rescue. The students received a survival kit made from everyday household items and were taught how to construct a basic lean-to shelter.
After lunch, the students faced a challenge: to build a survival shelter and start a campfire using only a ferro rod, cotton balls coated with Vaseline, and some small kindling.
The ROAR program would like to thank Ferry County Search and Rescue and all the parent volunteers who made the trip a success, despite the difficult weather.
