Republic School District Community,
We hope this message finds you well. We regret to inform you that the Republic School District will remain closed on Thursday - 11/30/2023 for the second consecutive day due to an unforeseen issue with the city water line.
The city water line problem has not yet been fully resolved, and as a result, we are unable to guarantee the availability of essential facilities, such as water supply and sanitation, to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work diligently with city authorities to address and resolve this matter. The decision to close the school is not taken lightly, but the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
We will continue to provide updates as we receive more information and strive to reopen the school at the earliest possible time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this unexpected situation.
Dear families,
I regret to inform you that due to a ruptured city water line, there will be no water supply for restrooms or drinking at the school today, November 29, 2023. As a result, school will be canceled for today. We apologize for the delay in communication.
It has come to our attention that not all parents received the message about the school cancelation today, which is very concerning. As the principal, I assure you I took all necessary steps to inform you immediately. I sent a call, a Facebook message, an email posted on the school district website, and a text message this morning, all by 5:30 am. When I heard that some families did not receive the first message, I sent out a second phone call at around 7:20 am.
We understand the inconvenience this may have caused and will work on fixing the issue, testing it, and ensuring that all families receive future messages from the Republic School District #309.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by this unforeseen event.
Sincerely,
Loren Finley

Junior High Girls Basketball Sports Photo: we are going to do a JH girls basketball group picture before the coaches leave for the jamboree today. Dan will be bringing the uniforms in for the girls to wear. I will hand out order forms to the girls today during pictures, or you can place an order online with the information provided on the included order form. Sorry for the late notification, we have been trying to do a work around to get this done.
Junior High Boys Basketball Sports Photo: Due to a junior high uniform shortage this year, high school uniforms were used for the junior high boys games. The high school boys will be leaving for a jamboree today and will need both the away and home uniforms for the tournament. We wish there was a way to make a group photo happen, but with the uniforms being gone, it won't be possible.
Senior Parents:
Jostens will be here on Thursday, November 30th at 10:30 a.m. to take orders for your senior’s graduation cap and gown. There is a minimum $75 down payment for orders placed (unless order is less $). Once placed, Jostens will fill your order and then send you a statement of the remaining balance. Payments can be made until the balance has been paid off. Orders will need to be paid in full before they can be released. You also have the option to mail your order or order online at Jostens.com.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the school.

In Mr. Winter's 5th grade class, students learned important survival skills such as basic first aid and compass navigation. Briana Smith, an EMT from Ferry County, taught them how to create splints using natural materials, while Jim Beckwith, a member of Ferry County Search and Rescue, taught them how to find north, south, east, and west using a compass and basic map reading skills.
