Freshman, Ashton Gliddon, ran a time of 18:38 in the 1B/2B Men’s District Championships held in Walla Walla today. Gliddon will be traveling to the Tri-Cities on Nov. 9th to compete at the Cross Country State Championship. Goooo Tigers!

Your Republic/Curlew cross county team just punched their ticket to STATE today when they placed 5th at Regionals in Colfax! State Cross Country will be held on Nov. 9th at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. Congrats to the Coaches and the ladies on an amazing season!

Great news! Your Lady Tiger Volleyball team will travel to Wilbur High School tomorrow (10/30) to play in the first round of league playoffs. Game time is approximately 3:30 pm. Whatever team loses will play in a loser out game immediately following the 3:30 pm game. Hope to see all you Tiger fans there!!

Announcement: The Republic School District is extremely excited to announce that we have received a $1.2 million grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, under the Community Outdoor Athletic Facilities program. This grant will add a rubberized track to our outdoor athletic fields and lights to allow evening use, enhance parking, and improve drainage and access for people with disabilities. The regional athletic league lacks track and field sites and the growing community continues to use the district’s fields for leagues, exercise, and town/county gatherings. We scored 1st out of 19 finalists in the state for this highly competitive grant and had a wonderful team come together to make this happen! Go Tigers!
This year, the ROAR program has expanded to include a new elective class for middle school students focused on outdoor adventure and regional biology. In this class, students are learning about various topics, such as camping and hiking basics, regional flora and fauna, and essential survival skills.
The first adventure for the class was a trip to Sweat Creek picnic area. Students were expected to demonstrate basic skills, including selecting a safe campsite, setting up a tent and sleeping bag, and hanging their food securely in a tree.
Mrs. Campbell's 1st-grade class enjoyed a crisp, sunny fall day at Curlew Lake State Park for this week's ROAR adventure. While at the park, students learned about squirrel behaviors by participating in movement games that got their bodies moving in the cool morning air. After studying squirrels, the students examined the beautiful, colorful trees in the park. They observed different leaf patterns, various tree shapes, and identified several types of trees.
After lunch, the students explored the state park and went on a color scavenger hunt while walking through the area.
Attention parents of fourth and fifth graders: The Symphony bus will return to the school at 4:30 PM today!
Congratulations to the Middle School Cross Country Lady Tigers and Coach Forsman, who brought home some serious hardware by winning the District Championships over the weekend! Their hard work put in this season paved the way for your Lady Tigers to dominate the race! Last week, Miss King's Kindergarten class had their first ROAR adventure at the Ferry Conservation District greenhouse property. The students explored outside to find shapes in nature such as circles, squares, and triangles. They also learned to classify natural materials found in nature and used handheld microscopes to examine leaves, grasses, and soil. A big thank you to Ferry Conservation District for allowing the ROAR program to utilize their amazing property and to Mckenzie Hilderbrandt for joining us.
Power has been restored and school will continue as scheduled. All absences and late arrivals will be excused.
The Republic School District has encountered a power outage this morning. We have a call out to the PUD regarding the matter. Students who are arriving will be sent to the gym. Due to the fact of the late discovery and students arriving on campus, we will prepare our families for possibly cancelling school and returning students home within the hour. All absences will be excused today as we navigate this issue.
