So much creativity was celebrated on Dot Day! Inspired by the story of The Dot, K-5 students were challenged to create artwork using dots. A lot of imagination and effort went into making these beautiful art pieces!
"The Dot" is a story about a caring teacher who challenges a skeptical student to believe in her abilities by having the courage to "make her mark." Starting with a small dot on a piece of paper, this boosts confidence and bravery, sparking a journey of self-discovery and sharing that has motivated numerous children and adults worldwide.

Mrs. Starr's and Miss Bushnell's classes had a wonderful day at the Ferry County Conservation District's greenhouse property, enjoying the beauty of the fall day. The students spent the day learning about different leaf shapes and how seeds are dispersed by wind and animals. The highlight of the day was observing a working beehive and learning about the process of honey production and collection. A big thank you to Dave Hedrick, McKenzie Hildebrandt, Julian Amyx , and the Ferry County Conservation District for their ongoing support of the ROAR program and the students of Republic School District.

Mrs. Campbell's 1st-grade class visited Cait's Crates in Tonasket to take a tour of their orchard and warehouse. During the visit, the students learned about the growing cycles of apple and pear trees, as well as how apple farmers test the apples to determine if they are ready for harvest. The ROAR program would like to thank Kait Thornton for sharing her passion for farming and her dedication to educating children about how their food goes from the farm to the table.

A special thanks goes to the Republic Volunteer Fire Department, Dean, and Kelly Bell. First and second-grade students were introduced to EDITH House, an orientation on how to escape the home in case of an emergency. The students enjoyed learning about fire safety and prevention.

Regarding Social Media Posts/Rumors/Gossip: There are posts circulating that a school district employee was arrested in the transportation department parking lot on Tuesday. This is false information and the person who was apprehended there had nothing to do with the school district in any way. We were never notified or prepared for such an event and it's disheartening to see posts by individual people who are attempting to spread misleading information to the public. If there is ever any emergency event or communication need for our community or families, that will come directly from the school distrct and will not come from second or third-hand social media posts. You may also reach out to our district office or schools if there are ever any questions or concerns. As we educate our students on responsible and safe use of social media, we would hope that other individuals outside of the school district would be able to also model this type of responsible behavior. Social media outlets can be a wonderful way to connect, share, celebrate, and provide truthful notifications within a community. Thank you for your time and we are absolutly excited for the wonderful new school year ahead!

We needed to combine the bear bus and the rabbit bus today as we were short a driver. We utilized our mass messaging system and found that some folks didn't get notified by phone or emails some of the messaging went through on the Facebook Feed and the school website. But many parents did not get the message.
We apologize that some parents did not receive the message. We have discovered a technical issue between our messaging system and our student records system. We will work to resolve the issue and we appreciate your patience and grace as we resolve the issue.
Sincerely,
Loren Finley

Good Morning,
This message will be important for all Kindergarten and 2nd grade families.
Due to our enrollment numbers, less in Kindergarten than expected, and more in 2nd grade than expected, and our desire to strategically impact our lower grade classroom size, we are making some changes in two classrooms.
Ms. Bushnell is being moved from Kindergarten to 2nd grade, as that class has a class roster that is too large for one classroom.
Kindergarten is going to recombine as their numbers are substantially smaller.
Mrs. Starr and Ms. Bushnell will be the 2nd grade teachers. The class roster has already been split. You will receive a personal message letting 2nd grade families know who your student will have as their teacher.
Also, when you come in on Tuesday the 3rd, for orientation, we will have class rosters posted outside the classrooms.
If you have any questions, please call the elementary office at 509-775-3173.
